Weber Shandwick has secured the coveted Gold Standard in Public Affairs (Consultancy) award at the inaugural Gold Standard Awards Ceremony in Hong Kong.
Hosted by PublicAffairsAsia magazine, the public affairs Gold Standard Award identifies a consultancy’s excellence in the fields of public affairs, government relations and corporate communications.
It recognises success in client development and relationships, team development, professional development and business expansion.
Weber Shandwick’s Asia Pacific public affairs practice is headquartered in Beijing and provides public affairs, government relations and high-end strategic consultancy throughout the agency’s Asia Pacific network.
It was established five years ago under the leadership of Executive Vice President John Russell and has experienced very rapid growth every year since its inception.
Tim Sutton, chairman Asia Pacific for Weber Shandwick and who collected the award, said: “We are delighted of course for our wonderful Public Affairs team. But we must share the honor with those clients who entrust us with that which is most precious: their reputation."
Craig Hoy, executive director of PublicAffairsAsia, said the award underlined how PA is an increasingly important part of the traditional communications offering of the consultancy sector.
"Weber Shandwick showed it had built a strong PA team to service the needs of its clients in a region where government remains a major stakeholder. Tim Sutton, John Russell and his team illustrated that they had achieved The Gold Standard and their work and development is underlined by this award."
Weber secured the top award over companies including Parker & Partners, Ruder Finn and fellow Interpublic group agency Golin Harris.
